Travel to Doi Khun Tan National Park in Lamphun Province.


Doi Khun Tan National Park was established as No. 10 in Thailand with an area of approximately 159,556.25 rai. Park areas are located mainly along the Khun Tan Mountains, the boundary between the plains in Chiang Mai and Lampang. The mountains are high complexity with high sea level from 325 to 1373 meters and a top of Doi Khun Tan is the highest point.
Area of forest in the Khun Tan mountain is an important source of the Ping river and Wang river. Highlights of the park tourism is a high mountain that is suitable for nature study walks. In the past, this area was important strategically located before. There are four points called Yor.1, Yor.2, Yor.3 and  Yor.4, which stands strategically located at 1-4. Doi Khun Tan National Park has other attractions like many more.
Yor.1 is located away from the park office at about 1,500 meters along the walk to the top of mountain. This area is home to the hospice of the State Railway of Thailand Which Krom Phra Kamphaengpet Ukarayothin used as a residence during the construction of the tunnel. Today is home to tourists to relax and feel the cold air in winter.
Yor.2 is located  far from Yor.1 about 800 meters, in this area are based on dense pine forest to the atmosphere is always peaceful and natural beauty. Nearby the top mountain was a camp with the rest of the logging companies and the business came to a stop during World War 2. Then, M.R. Kukrit  Pramoch bought this area to create a house and garden flowers, fruit orchards as a private resort. From the viewpoint terrace of this house is a beautiful landscape as well, in the path of strategically located at 2 to 3 has a pathway down to watch Mei Tat waterfall, distance 300 meters.
Yor.3 is located far from Yor.2 about 3,500 meters is the tropical rainforest and beautiful wild birds to watch all the way. In addition to the educational nature walks, bird watching is also a source as well.  The Yor.3 areas has been a place where the American missionary Church is to build housing among the Dong Son mountain. After the railway is completed, the Board of missionaries came to rest in April every year. Currently, housing is in the care of the Payap university Chiang Mai and is open to tourists.
Yor.4 is located far from Yor.3 about 1,000 meters is the highest peak of the Khun Tan Mountains. In World War 2, this area is used as a patrol binoculars station so called "Mon Song Klong" is a vantage point overlooking the town of Lampang, clearly. Before reaching the mountain also has a shady forest with cool weather all the way.
In addition, another unique feature of this park is a passenger train through the Khun Tan tunnel. This is the longest tunnel in Thailand (1352m.)
Location : Mata District, Lamphun Province.
Season : Year-round, but during the winter is most appropriate.
Facilities : There are a visitor Center, housing, youth camping, bathrooms, restaurants and camping ground in the park office for service.
